They thrive in warm temperatures with high humidity, peaking during the summer months.

The pest control company Terminix put out its annual ranking of the cities with the most mosquitoes, with Los Angeles, California, coming in at #1.

So, how does New Jersey compare to other parts of the country when it comes to mosquitoes?

Although Los Angeles came in as the #1 city, California is NOT the #1 state for mosquitoes.

With New Jersey coming in 5th for the most mosquitoes, it's important to note that warm, humid environments with standing water are where mosquitoes reproduce.

Terminix recommends preventing infestations by removing standing water, cleaning your gutters, changing water sources weekly, replacing outdoor lighting, and trimming vegetation, but says professional mosquito control is often necessary.
